Shifa Network has been around since 2003. We initially began as a social / drop-in group for women who were living with long term mental health issues and had no where to turn for help. It wasn’t long until Shifa realised that its service users had more unmet needs and needed more than just drop-in support.
After carrying out an informal survey and consultation with those who attended, Shifa started offering life-long learning opportunities and courses such as ESOL. This helped women regain their confidence and self-esteem to better deal with the difficulties they were facing. We have since come a long way and now offer a range of services from peer support groups, educational short courses, creative and physical activities, one to one support, drop-in support and signposting advice. The continued significant demand for our services is testament to the real need for specialised support to meet the needs of these communities.
We are grateful to everyone that has supported our journey from our funders, partners and donors – we couldn’t have achieved all that we have without their support.
